Starting Spring 2026, Hockey Alberta has redirected from "Respect in Sport" to a new program called "The Shift Forward." Any pre-existing certification of Respect in Sport is still VALID but once expired, parents/guardians need to complete the new program. As of the 2028/2029 Season, all participants will be certified in "The Shift Forward."
This program was designed to help protect our youth and create safe environments for all our participants in a modernized, age appropriate and progressive way. By having all participants, coaches, parents and guardians certified they hope to evolve the culture of hockey on and off the ice. It is recommended that all parents/guardians take this course but only required of one.
